Soul On Fire

If you haven't already. Make sure you take a look on our myspace--------> www.myspace.com/thechairwarriors.
During the CAN YOUR SCHOOL ROCK competition, the top 8 bands were offered to record 1 song each for a compilation album. At the time, our best song was and probably still is "Soul On Fire". We recorded it with CYSR and it was recorded "live" as in...every instrument was recorded simultaneously and vocals were added on afterwards. It took us 1 try to get it done. The finished product is on our myspace so GO LISTEN to it and appreciate the well written riffs - vocals - lyrics - keyboard. The song has 2 sides to it, a classical aspect and an electro/synth aspect which makes the song dynamic and unique at the same time. This song is both somewhat main stream and alternative making it a very listenable song for anyone!

Our Last SHOW

Our last show.. we opened up for a band who is presently on a cross Canada tour trying to expose themselves to every province. We were chosen to open up for them through a friend who knows the band. The show was @ Hemisphere Gauche.. a pretty nice looking bar. The sound was excellent and we really had a fun time playing in front of around 40 people on a Thursday night, which isn't that bad for a Thursday night. We performed and dedicated our encore song to all who have lost their lives in Japan after the tsunami. The song is called Brothers and Sisters and it's about orphans and children who have lost those around them and a city destroyed from evil and hate. We thought it would be almost the perfect song for a dedication. Here is the song. LISTEN to it and listen carefully to the lyrics!

Doing our own album.

AFTER 8 MONTHS. we no longer believe in anything the creator tells us. He told us so many lies. He said certain people were going to get involved with us. He told us how were going to make an amazing album and we're going to be on the radio. Apparently he has connections with everyone. After a lot of thought, the band has decided to record by ourselves with a friend who has a home studio. He would record the drum tracks and bass tracks and HE has a friend who masters music and has done many projects engineering music. His name is Joe Pacheco and he is somewhat known around Montreal for his talent in mastering music. He has offered to work on our recordings and possibly record vocals, keyboard and guitar at his studio. We're going to dash out our own money for our own album for now. We are sick and tired of waiting for NOTHING. We're taking matter in our own hands.

joining a competition....

about a year ago we joined a competition to really get us going in popularity. We signed up for a competition called Can Your School Rock (I previously mentioned this on the first blog post). It was scheduled to be aired on Global Montreal and Toronto the summer that just passed. We went through the competition writing new songs. The songs started to really get so much better after the last. The competition was basically an AMERICAN IDOL style of competition. each band had a task to do each round like for example: play a cover song from a selective list of bands and play an original ballad song. We went through each round really out performing ourselves every week until we made it to the final round. we had to play 4 original songs. By the end of this competition we really ended up having a complete repertoire of new music. The music was well composed considering we had to write new material between the rounds. We were some what pressured to write and this really brought us together and allowed us to write amazing songs. We were all really excited to win this competition. We were so happy when they the judges chose us to win.

The rewards for the winner WERE the following:
-20,000$ of equipment sponsored by Steve's Music Store
-A record deal with Can Your School Rock.
-Music video sponsored by Statefarm Insurance
-Photoshoot
-1,000$ package from Sennheiser
-3,000$ package with Godin Guitars.

but you know what's funny from hearing this?  it sounds like.. OH man that is amazing. whattaaaa great competition.. NOO ITS NOT .. everything was lies! they lied to us on TV. 5 episodes were aired and this is what they promised but this is what we actually got.

-roughly 4,000$ of equipment
-NO RECORD DEAL AS OF YET. NO SERIOUS TALKS.
-1,000$ package from Sennheiser
and 1,500 $ worth of Guitars from Godin Guitars.

They screwed us. Big time. The worst part of the whole thing is making us believe that we were going to record an album but there has yet to be any serious talks for recording an album. The creator of the show continues to make us believe that we're going to record soon but this has been said for 8 months now. WE LOVE waiting for false hope.

About "us" Part: 2

I briefly introduced the band with some info about the members and musical influenced on my previous blog. I'd like to say that we are a very unique sounding band. If you don't find that true from the video posted on my very first blog, well i think something is wrong with you. Our style of music is not the normal main stream music. It is a melange of many influences. We tend to call our music more of... a mixture of Alternative rock with Electro sounding keyboard. We also have a lot of Classical based keyboard in our music to keep the music from sounding really repeative with 8-bit sounds. We've grown together as a band for almost 2 years now developping this sound and I could honestly say it's pretty much one of a kind for a band our age (17-21 years old). The music is somewhat mature but fresh. It is a "new wave" of music. Watch this. This song defines a lot about our music, and from watching this you will understand exactly what I mean.
